ETCHING OF THE METAL SHEETS
| SHEETS PREPARATION | ||
| Some packaging adhesive is stuck to the back of sheets, so the etching mixture will not etch the metal on the reverse side. Another way is to paint the back of sheets, but the adhesive way is faster. |
| PRECAUTIONS | ||
 | Recall of safety instructions: Respect the safety instructions on the packagings, wear protection clothes, gloves, glasses and a respiratory mask during the most dangerous phase, during the etching. At last, work outside to minimize the danger of the gas emanations. |
| CHEMICALS USED AND PROPORTIONS | ||
 | The etching bath is made of 1/4 chlorydric acid, 1/4 hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 normal water. My needs being limited to small parts, the mix is made of 30 ml of chlorydric acid, 30 ml of hydrogen peroxide and 60 ml of water. BEWARE, mix in this order : water, hydrogen peroxide then acid |
